Autumn 1

We have had a terrific first half term in Year 6, getting to know each other and becoming aware of the extra responsibilities and expectations of being 'top of the school'! This has included our announcements of Family Leaders, Maths Ambassadors and Head Boy and Head Girl of the school, a warm congratulations to those who were selected. For those who weren't selected, rest assured that there will be plenty of additional responsibility opportunities as the year progresses.

Our cross-curricular learning has been focused on Ancient Greece. We have loved the story of Maz Evans' 'Who Let the God's Out?' in English, using it as a springboard to write character descriptions and diary entries respectively. We have also learnt about the history of Ancient Greece, with a particular focus on Alexander the Great, the original Olympic Games and Greek gods and goddesses.

In Maths, we have been consolidating our knowledge on place value, including up to 7-digit numbers, leading into learning about problem solving using the four operations and applying facts about factors and multiples respectively.

A reminder that PE sessions are Thursday and Friday afternoons, so please ensure children come into school in their PE kits.

Thank you to those who have messaged the office to give consent for your child to walk home; if this is something you would like your child to do, please email the office who shall pass the message on to Mr Fogarty.
