This week we start a new spelling scheme with all the children in years 4 , 5 and 6. Children will be split into year groups for spelling lessons. Spelling lessons will take place every day and will last for 15 - 20 minuets. The children will given spellings from the theme or pattern to learn across the week and will still be tested on these on Mondays.
Literacy continues to look at the work of Shakespeare, this week we will be reading an adapted version of Macbeth. In grammar lessons we will be looking at adverbs.
In Numeracy this week the children will be plotting co-ordinates across all four quadrants and measuring angles.
Topic lessons focus on how we know about ancient civilisations and the children will be working with clay to create a pot. Topic homework has been uploaded onto the class page and I will send home a paper copy this week.
Monday the children in year 5 will start swimming, meanwhile the children in year 6 will start their preparation for SATs. This week the children will do a reading comprehension and look at ratio. In the coming weeks they will also be revising many aspects of grammar and will be writing at length as well as covering some of the more difficult areas of maths.
