Your child will bring home a paper phonics activity to practice reading real and nonsense words. Our Government phonics test in June will test the reading of both real and nonsense words and you can support your child by regularly practising recognising and pronouncing the phonic sounds that have already been sent home. They can also be found below.

We have been learning to tell the time at the hour and half hour. Please can you help to re-enforce this knowledge at home by frequently looking at analogue clocks and discussing the time. Please practice telling the time (the hour and half hour) on the following website:

Please practice phonics sounds. Many children are still not sure of the phase 3 sounds. Below are some real and nonsense words to practice reading, as well as the phase 3, and 5 sound mats and phase 4 clusters. Please refresh your knowledge of the phonic sounds by listening to the video clip further down the web page.
Set Friday 31st January
Please support our learning in class by skip counting at home. You may explore the links below from a website with lots of year 1 activities, find one of your own, or practice counting in your daily lives (walking down the street - at bath time etc.). Please keep homework fun, regular quick short sessions is all that we expect.
