At Lapworth Primary School we are always endeavouring to inspire a love of reading for pleasure in all our pupils. To help encourage this we will be offering a range of exciting reading events and activities this year; which will begin with the children being given the opportunity to take part in a reading competition each term.

The competition for this term will be The Lapworth Book Awards!

As some of you may know, Blue Peter hold their own book awards each year, which in 2015 will be held on Thursday 3rd December. We will be mirroring these awards with our own book award ceremony in school.

We are inviting all children to choose their favourite book; this can be fiction, non fiction, poetry, drama or any other book of their choice. The children will then need to persuade their class teacher why their book is a great read and deserves to win a Lapworth Book Award. Children can present their argument for the book however they choose to best persuade their teacher. For example they could write a book review, draw a poster or even record a video saying why their book is the best.

Class teachers will then select two winners from their class and these children will present their winning entry in a special, Lapworth Book Awards Assembly, held on the same day as the Blue Peter Book Awards. Winners will also receive a certificate and book token and will feature on the school website.

All entries need to be handed to class teachers by Monday 30th November.

Good luck and get reading!!
